Massive Russian drone attack destroys oil depot in Rivne Oblast. Russian forces hit Rivne Oblast with a “massive” drone attack on Aug. 10 that destroyed an oil depot in the Dubno district, Oblast Governor Vitaliy Koval reported via Telegram.
Defense Ministry: Military has ‘not confirmed’ Dnipro River raid. Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said the military has “not confirmed” reports that Ukrainian forces conducted a raid on the occupied east bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast.
SBU detains woman suspected of spying in Zhytomyr Oblast. A woman has been detained under suspicion of spying for the Russian military, Zhytomyr Oblast Prosecutor’s Office reported on Aug. 9. The woman is believed to have cooperated with Russian military intelligence by giving them information that was used to launch missile strikes.
Russian media claims explosion at industrial plant outside Moscow. An explosion took place at an industrial plant northeast of Moscow, injuring 25 people, Russian state-controlled media claimed, citing Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry. Russian media claims the explosion was caused by “human error.”
MP investigated for vacation during wartime declared suspect of document forgery. Lawmaker Oleksandr Dubinsky said via social networks on Aug. 9 that he has been declared a suspect of the falsification of official documents in a case related to his recent travel abroad.

11 drones intercepted over Sevastopol, Russia claims. The Russian Defense Ministry claimed that air defense units destroyed 11 drones traveling toward the city of Sevastopol in Russian-occupied Crimea on the night of Aug. 10.
Russian high-school textbooks promote war in Ukraine. Russia’s Education Ministry introduced updated history textbooks that include segments about the war in Ukraine that Russia calls a “special military operation,” the annexation of Crimea, and Western sanctions, CNN reports on Aug. 9.
Defense Ministry official charged over loss of almost $430,000 in public funds. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced on Aug. 9 that it had charged an official of the Defense Ministry for causing a loss of state funds of almost Hr 16 million ($430,000).
UK Defense Ministry: Russian tanker supplying Syria attacked by sea drone. According to the U.K. Ministry of Defense intelligence update on Aug. 9, the Russian merchant tanker Sig was “attacked and disabled near the Kerch Strait” on Aug. 4 by a sea drone, or Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV).

Update: 2 killed, 1 resuscitated after Russian missile strike against Zaporizhzhia. Two people have been confirmed killed in a Russian missile strike against Zaporizhzhia while one civilian previously reported as dead was resuscitated, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said on Aug. 9.
Russia shells kindergarten in Kherson, 1 civilian injured. Russian artillery shelled a kindergarten in Kherson, injuring a 75-year-old locksmith, the Kherson Oblast Military Administration reported on Aug. 9.

Germany hands over 2 Patriot launchers to Ukraine in latest aid package. The German government announced on Aug. 9 the hand-over of the latest military aid package to Ukraine, including two Patriot air defense system launchers.
Politico: Biden set to announce further Ukraine aid request on Aug 10. The Biden administration is expected to disclose its appeal for billions of dollars in extra funds intended for weaponry and other forms of assistance to Ukraine on Thursday, Aug. 10, Politico reports.
Washington Post: Leopard tanks to be sent to Ukraine via Belgian broker. Dozens of Leopard 1 tanks might undergo refurbishment and be dispatched to Ukraine, following a purchase by an undisclosed buyer from a private Belgian dealer, according to the Washington Post.
Canada slaps new sanctions against Belarus on three-year anniversary of 2020 elections. Canada announced new sanctions against Belarus on Aug. 9, targeting nine individuals and seven entities over their complicity in the regime’s domestic oppression and support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Germany arrests military officer suspected of spying for Russia. German authorities arrested an officer of the military procurement agency on suspicion that he was passing sensitive information to Russia, the Bild newspaper reported on Aug. 9, citing the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office.
