The documentary, authored by journalist Olesia Bida and directed by Vitalii Havura, uncovers the inner workings of the forced deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia and the occupied territories of Ukraine.

The film tells the story of a group of children known as “Group 31” who were taken to Russia from now-occupied Mariupol in May of last year and have not yet been able to return. Among them is Pylyp Holovnya, who was taken into the family of Maria Lvova-Belova, the presidential commissioner for children’s rights in Russia.

1 killed in Russian strike on cultural center in Chernihiv Oblast. Russian forces launched a missile strike against a cultural center in Chernihiv Oblast on July 21, killing one of its employees, Governor Viacheslav Chaus reported.

Diaspora organization pledges $3 million in aid to Territorial Defense. Through its fundraising initiative Unite with Ukraine, the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) pledged Hr 117 million ($3.2 million) in aid to the Territorial Defense Forces, the UWC informed on July 18.

Zelensky dismisses Ukrainian ambassador to UK. President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a decree on July 21 to dismiss Vadym Prystaiko, Ukraine’s ambassador to the U.K.

General: Russia tries to conduct sabotage raids in Sumy, Chernihiv oblasts.

Russian sabotage units are trying to cross the Ukrainian border in Sumy and Chernihiv oblasts but without success, Lieutenant General Serhii Naiev said on July 21.

Explosions reported in Odesa Oblast. Explosions were reported by residents of Odesa Oblast, Dzerkalo Tyzhnia wrote on July 21.

UK Defense Ministry: Last Wagner convict contracts ending soon, fighters to be released. The Wagner Group is likely going to release the last of its recruited convicts from mandated service and offer them contracts, the U.K. Defense Ministry reported on July 21.

National Resistance Center: Russia threatens Ukrainians who don’t take passports with deportation. Russian occupation authorities in an occupied village of Kherson Oblast forced residents to take Russian passports, threatening them with deportation to Russia, the National Resistance Center reported on July 20.

Russian missiles hit grain warehouses in Odesa Oblast. A Russian missile strike on the night of July 21 targeted grain warehouses at an agricultural company in Odesa Oblast, injuring two people, said Serhii Bratchuk, spokesperson for the Odesa military administration.

This number includes 680 casualties Russian forces suffered just over the past day.

International response

Bulgaria to provide Ukraine with armored personnel carriers. The parliament of Bulgaria agreed to send additional military aid to Ukraine, including approximately 100 Soviet-era armored personnel carriers.

South African authorities agree **to issue a warrant for Putin’s arrest.**The South African government stated on July 21 that it failed to fulfill its international obligations by refusing to immediately issue a warrant for the arrest of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

Zelensky and Erdogan hold phone call, discuss grain deal. President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on Twitter on July 21 that he and Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had discussed the Black Sea Grain Initiative during a phone call.

Germany hands over 10 Leopard 1 tanks, other aid to Ukraine. The German government announced on July 20 it handed over 10 Leopard 1A5 tanks, as well as other military aid to Ukraine.

France says China is supplying Russia with non-lethal military aid. China is supplying Russia with non-lethal military aid like helmets, armor, and dual-use technologies, CNN reported on July 21, citing French officials.
