Annually, millions of Muslim pilgrims arrive in the holy city of Makkah through Hajj Packages from London for Hajj rituals. Traveling from across the globe, pilgrims gather in Haramain and commence the holy rituals from the 8th day of Dhul-Hijjah. The rituals of the Hajj pilgrimage last for five days i.e., ending on the 12th day of Dhul-Hijjah.
Hajj is a pilgrimage of the Islamic faith; an obligatory one. Since it’s the fifth pillar of the Islamic faith, every able Muslim must perform hajj at least once in their lifetime and if one does not opt for it, it’s a sinful act.

Understanding the requisites of Hajj obligation.

Since Hajj is a pilgrimage of the Islamic faith, it’s obligatory for every adult and able Muslim. This definition of being capable of Hajj is very extensive. Therefore, it means;
1.The person should be physically fit and healthy for the hajj travel. Considering the physically exhausting nature of hajj rituals, a pilgrim should be able to observe all of its rituals without any health complications or risks.
2.Mental sanity is another requisite of the hajj obligation. Hajj is only compulsory for such Muslims who are of sound mind and not for the differently-abled. The pilgrims going for hajj must know about the significance of hajj.
3.As we all know hajj travel requires a person to spend from its monetary means. Let it be flight bookings, hotel accommodation, visa/travel fees, transportation costs, and other living expenditures. Thus, only when a person can easily afford it all without burdening himself financially, then such a person is considered to be financially capable for the hajj pilgrimage.
4.Last but not the least, travel independence is also considered for the hajj obligation. It means that the person wishing to travel for hajj doesn’t have any political, geographical, or travel recitations imposed on him/her.
If all of these conditions fulfill, only then does the hajj pilgrimage become obligatory for a Muslim.

Hajj with loan money.

If one isn’t financially capable of hajj travel in the first place, the obligation of hajj isn’t considered for such a person. Therefore, taking a loan for hajj doesn’t even matter. In simple words, taking a loan for the performance of obligatory hajj isn’t permissible. Only when a person can afford all of the hajj travel expenditures by himself without any difficulty, hajj is obligatory to be performed.
Moreover, if one can take a loan (riba-free) and possesses sufficient means to pay it back (in time) still such a person won’t be considered religiously capable for the performance of Hajj.
Hence, hajj with the loan money does not suffice for one’s Hajj-ul-Islam.
