Ukraine withdraws from eastern Chasiv Yar neighborhood, military says. The decision was made because defensive positions in the area were destroyed, and commanders agreed to withdraw to better-protected positions, said Nazar Voloshyn, the spokesperson for the Khortytsia group of forces.

Ukrainian drone hits gunpowder plant in Russia, source says. Ukrainian “kamikaze” drones operated by Ukraine’s military intelligence attacked a gunpowder plant in the town of Kotovsk in Russia’s Tambov Oblast, a military intelligence source told the Kyiv Independent.

Ukraine’s government has not distributed EU funding for the reconstruction and protection of energy infrastructure worth 150 million euros ($162 million) for four months due to “bureaucratic obstacles,” Ekonomichna Pravda (EP) reported on July 4, citing sources familiar with the situation.

Belarus joins Shanghai Cooperation Organization led by Russia, China. Before Belarus joined, the organization consisted of nine member states, including China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Putin claims Istanbul peace plan draft still ‘on table’ for talks between Russia and Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed on July 4 that the alleged peace plan proposal drafted during negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow in 2022 in Istanbul, could be the basis for a “settlement” of a Russia’s full-scale war, the Kremlin-controlled TASS news agency wrote.

Presidential Office spokesperson Serhii Nykyforov responded sarcastically to Tucker Carlson’s earlier announcement, saying that the commentator should “more carefully check his sources in the FSB (Russia’s Federal Security Service).
